Progressives Clan commends APC national leadership on setting age limit for youth leader

The Progressives Clan has commended the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) under the leadership of His Excellency, Mai Mala Buni, the Executive Governor of Yobe State for coming up with a guideline that requires all persons vying for the position of youth leader in the coming congress to be between the ages of 18 and 35.

Recall that the APC has said that all persons contesting the position of youth leader must be between 18 and 35 years old. This was contained in a statement titled, ‘APC Releases Timetable, Guidelines for July 31 Ward Congresses’, by the National Secretary, APC Caretaker, and Extra-ordinary Convention Planning Committee, John Akpanudoedehe, on Sunday.

Spokesman of the Clan, Tobi Matthew, in a statement on Friday, said this move and recommendation formed part of the resolutions at the Progressives Youth Conference that held recently in Abuja attended by their representatives.

“It is our firm belief that with this guideline, youth in the Progressives fold will get true representation that reflects their demography and ideals, thereby deepening youth engagement and sense of belonging,” the statement read.

The Progressives Clan urged youths who qualify for the requirement and are capable to take the party to enviable heights to apply for the role and other roles in the coming congress, while wishing them all the best.
