Former Osun Deputy Governor and Senator, Engr. Iyiola Omisore has said that there is need for the General Assembly of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), to have its Budget Performance and Project Monitoring Working Group (NSE-BPPMG).
According to him, this would ensure professional efficiency, accountability, transparency and sustainability.
Speaking at a presentation on Monday, Engr. Omisore said there is need for the group within the society because of the humongous yet alarming rate of the nation’s budgetary challenges and infrastructure deficit.
The major focus, he said would be on budget implementation vis-à-vis infrastructure delivery across Nigeria. Others include the provision of monthly reports on the status of projects financed by public funds.
In the framework, he proposed that the Group would operate as an umbrella body, providing value addition to infrastructure planning and delivery in Nigeria.
Engr. Omisore rounded off by stressing the need for the immediate adoption and execution of the program as it would help the country’s infrastructure development and economic advancement.
