John Dyegh Set to Officially Declare House Speakership Bid
Hon. John Dyegh, a member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Gboko/Tarka Federal Constituency of Benue State, will on Wednesday officially declare his intention to run for office of the speaker in the ninth assembly.
According to Mr. Dyegh’s office, the event will start by 10am at the National Assembly Media Center, Abuja.
The APC national leadership has reportedly settled for House Leader Femi Gbajabiamila as speaker, but there are other contenders which include House spokesman Abdulrazak Namdas (APC, Adamawa), Mukhtar Aliyu Betara (APC, Borno), Idris Wase (APC, Plateau), Umar Bago (APC, Niger), Nkeiruka Onyejeocha (APC, Abia), John Okafor (APC, Imo), Babangida Ibrahim (APC, Katsina) and Mohammed Kazaure (APC, Jigawa).
The third term lawmaker, Hon. John Dyegh speaking on his ambition said “I am not working against my party. Nobody, either the National Chairman Adams Oshiomole, not any member of the National Executive Council (NEC), not alone another person in the party has talked about Femi Gbaja to us as members of the APC caucus in the house that the Speaker has been zoned to the South West. So all we are hearing are speculations, rumors and i am not sure you want me to work on rumors.”
