Ebonyi gov’t denies Miyetti Allah’s involvement in Ohaukwu LGA attack

Ebonyi State Government says preliminary investigations indicate that the attack on a village in Umuogodo Akpu Ngbo, Ohaukwu Local Government Area was a fallout of an age-long boundary dispute between the people of Ngbo and their neighbours in Agila in Ador Local Government Area of Benue State.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor of the state, Mr Monday Uzo explained that the attack was not perpetrated by herdsmen as being speculated.

He noted that the state government was in touch with the leadership of Miyetti Allah in the state who denied the involvement of herders in the said attack.

The statement further explained that the Deputy Governor, Dr Kelechi Igwe had directed the deployment of security agents to the area to repel the attackers.

He called on the people of the state not to engage in any reprisal attack as the state government was doing everything possible to restore security to the affected area.
